Brow and Forehead Lift Winnipeg

Our life experiences are etched in the wrinkles on our faces. As we age, the collagen-scaffolding supporting our skin slowly breaks down. As a result, the skin loses its structure and begins to sag. ‘Frown lines’ and wrinkles in the brow region become increasingly apparent. These ‘frown lines’ can make people feel as if they look tired, angry, sad, or older than they feel.

A forehead lift, or brow lift, is designed to lift the brow line to a higher position and by reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, restores a more youthful appearance.

A brow lift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as face lifts, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping.

How its done?

The surgical technique chosen will depend on
the position of your eyebrows, the amount of excess upper eyelid
skin you have, the depth of forehead wrinkling and the height of your hairline. An incision, designed to be inconspicuous within hair, is made across the top of the scalp, starting above the ears. Through these incisions, your plastic surgeon can modify or remove parts of the muscles that cause frown lines, smooth the forehead by removing excess skin and lift your eyebrows to a more youthful position. The procedure can take between 1 to 2 hours and is usually performed under a general anesthetic.

Post-operative course

Facelift surgery patients are discharged the same day of surgery. Typical recovery time is approximately 3-4 weeks with mild discomfort that can be easily controlled with medication. Bruising and swelling of the eyes and forehead is normal and should subside within 2 to 3 weeks. Some numbness of the skin is quite normal; it will disappear in a few weeks. Patients should rest for the first 4-7 days post-operatively. Full activity, including sports, should be postponed until 3 weeks after surgery.

Detailed pre- and post-operative instructions will be provided at the WSC.
